Krausová's book rediscovers Skłodowska-Curie and brings her legacy to a new audience.

While researching the book, Krausová said she had done her homework in Poland to make the biography as historically accurate as possible.

"I travelled to the Maria Skłodowska-Curie Museum in Warsaw, where I photographed everything from her clothes to laboratory equipment," she said.

"I wanted to give readers a closer look not only at what they already know from their textbooks, but also at Skłodowska-Curie's life story, which is fascinating in its own right," Krausová added.

Michał Owczarek has the story.
